Transmission Doctor and Auto Care has an impressive 30+ year history in the Alachua, FL area. The business was started by Rick Cahill in 1993 servicing 1-2 cars per week. In 1996, Jim Markle joined Rick as a transmission rebuilder. Jim soon realized he had a passion to simply “help people fix their cars” and in 1999 he decided to purchase Transmission Doctor from Rick.

Jim, our ASE master certified rebuilder/owner and the crew bring over 70 years of experience to our loyal customer base. When you call or stop by our state-of-the-art facility we opened in 2019 you'll be greeted by Tracey, our shop manager, who will see to it that you're treated like a long-time friend.

Every customer receives a free 24-point external and electronic diagnostic check. That is followed up with an honest diagnosis and a fair price. We tell you what needs attention first and what can wait until a later date. Our entire team takes pride in being a repair shop that you can trust. In addition, if you’re interested, we’ll take the time to educate you on the details of each and every repair.

Over the years, word of mouth and personal referrals have been our best advertising. Family and community involvement are essential to Transmission Doctor and Auto Care and we support local businesses and our schools with sponsorships and attending events on a regular basis. Jim can also be heard on 97.3 “The Sky” radio where he does a brief commercial about our services.
